Tell Your Past, Present and Future Clients About The Birth Survey

Jan 15th, 2010 | By | Category: Marketing, Resources

In an effort to provide a forum for women to provide much-needed consumer feedback about OB/Gyns, midwives, hospitals and birth center, the Coalition for Improving Maternity Services (CIMS) unveiled their national rollout of the Birth Survey, an online survey to collect information from women who have had a baby within the last three years. The results of this survey, along with obstetrical intervention data obtained from State Departments of Health will be made available on the Birth Survey website.

Here is how you can help to increase awareness about your business and your support for this project, and promote the mission of creating transparency in maternity care:

  • Re-connect with your past clients. Send them an email with the link to the Birth Survey site and encourage them to participate in the survey. Also tell them to forward your message to their friends, mother’s groups, LLL and API groups.
  • The Birth Survey site has a variety of PR material for you to utilize. Download buttons for your website and postcards and flyers to distribute. You can also visit the Central Texas Birth Network’s site and download a full-page flyer that can be posted and distributed.
  • Encourage those in your professional network to distribute these flyers. Send them an email with a copy of the brochures and links to The Birth Survey website.
  • If you are planning to have a booth at a baby show, create a flyer to hand out. Add this statement to the bottom of the flyer: “Provided by [Your Business Name] – [your website name]. Ie: Provided by the Central Texas Birth Network – www.centexbirthnetwork.org.
  • If you run a Birth Network, add buttons and links on the Network’s website.
  • If allowed, email your women business network groups and let them know about the Birth Survey.
  • Email your friends and mom’s groups and let them know about the project.
  • Write about the Birth Survey on your professional and personal blog.

This project is exciting for birth professionals and birthing women. What a wonderful way to encourage accountability of birth providers and hospitals. I hope this provides women a way to have their stories heard about their birth experiences, good and bad.
