The Emotional Aspect of Business
By spending time on the spiritual aspect of your business and becoming aligned with what you believe to be important, you can then work on the emotional aspect of business. If you are feeling some hesitation about building your business, ask yourself the following questions:
- What fears are preventing me from moving forward in my business?
- How likely is it that what we fear will happen?
- What could I potentially learn from that result?
- How would that make me feel to learn that?
Exploring the emotions you experience provide you with clues about what is either helping you or preventing you from starting or growing your business. If you identify issues that are blocking you emotionally, there are ways to help you move forward:
- Journaling or expressing your emotions through art
- Talking with a friend, partner, or business colleague
- Working with a coach or NLP practitioner
- Using the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
Exploring the Emotional Aspect more deeply will help you come to a different perspective that will help you move forward.
Other questions to ask include the things that make you feel really good about your business, and identifying those areas that are draining your energy. What feeds and drains you?
- What tasks in my business give me the greatest joy? How can I do more of that?
- What tasks in my business cause stress and anxiety? What can I do to lessen that?
By dedicating time to do the Inner Work of Business Building, you create energy that propels you forward while you do the Outer Work of creating your unique and authentic practice. Resources, ideas, inspiration and results come more easily when you focus on the Inner Work.
